The story and history of Saint Christina. Born in Bolsena, an ancient town in central Italy, Christina was the daughter of a rich and powerful Roman magistrate named Urbain. Her wealthy pagan father had a number of golden idols of Roman gods. Christina was converted to Christianity and destroyed the golden idols, distributing the gold pieces amongst the poor. She as then persecuted by her furious father who had her scourged and thrown into prison. She refused to abandon her faith and endured a number of tortures including burning, placed into a pit of snakes and finally thrown into the lake at Bolsena with a millstone around her neck and shot with arrows.
