Catholic Patron
Saints
This section
contains the history, facts and information
including the life of the Catholic Patron Saint,
the death, their Feast Day and how each of the
Catholic Patron Saints are depicted, or represented
in Christian Art. What is the definition
of the Catholic Patron Saints and why they were
chosen to become patrons of causes, professions
and countries? What are the Meanings, definition
and origins? Catholic Patron Saints are those
who are considered to be a defender of a specific
group of people or of a nation. There are patron
saints for virtually every cause, profession
or special interest. Prayers are considered
more likely to be answered by asking a saint
for intercession on their behalf.
Catholic Saint
of the Day
There is a
Catholic Saint for practically every day of
the year and these are referred to as the Feast
Days. What is the origin and meaning of Feast
Days? Most saints have specially designated
feast days which are associated with a specific
day of the year and these are referred to as
the saint's feast day. The Catholic Saint's
feast days first arose from the very early Christian
custom of the annual commemoration of martyrs
on the dates of their deaths, at the same time
celebrating their birth into heaven. Eventually,
as time passed, practically every day of the
year had at least one saint who was commemorated
on that date - a Saint of the day.
